ABOUT US

Migra UP! sees itself as part of the intercultural opening of Pankow. Our project promotes cooperation between Pankow migrant associations and the local administration. Empowerment is written in capital letters at Migra UP! and professional networking is our most important offer: We make the interests of Pankow's MSOs visible, organize professional networks around the key issues of our district (multilingualism, diversity, anti-discrimination work) and coordinate joint events between the administration and migrant associations.

The project is currently in a relaunch phase. We are returning to the work, combined with the strengthening of MSOs with a new Holder, Sources d´Espoir e.V., since July 2022; and a decolonial approach as the basis of their work. Even more so as an expression of its presence in the district of Pankow.

New perspectives:

​

Decolonization challenges us to reflect on our relationship to the past and our present reality in a migration society. We want to initiate self-reflection processes in migrant or non-migrant civil society to create just systems that address inequality through education, dialogue, communication and action.

​

An intersectional perspective is also a way of working and an attitude. As part of our work with migrant* organizations, we aim to work more in this area. Our activation of new issues such as inclusion or participation of BI People of Color involve more variables that need to be addressed and enhance our work for a diverse district and collaboration between different actors with their different challenges and potential solutions to different problems.

MAIN GOAL

The main goal of the project is to strengthen the MSOs and the migration society from a decolonial and intersectional perspective - making them visible as equal interlocutors for the public institutions in Pankow.

OTHER GOALS:
  • Strengthening the processes of intercultural opening in the organizations - MSO, initiative and collectives.Support of the Pankower administration in this process.

  • Strengthening of professional networking at the local level

  • Accompaniment and strengthening of competences of the MSO members.

  • Visibility of BIPoC communities in district.

TARGET GROUP
  • Migrant organizations (MOs) - these include registered associations as well as initiatives and (in)formal networks.

  • Individuals and multipliers with a history of migration or flight: Due to their greater willingness and obvious commitment, they are in a position to reach other people and pass on their knowledge.

  • Administration, public bodies, institutions, sponsors, associations and other actors.

  • Representatives of integration policy at the local level. e.g. members of the integration advisory board or citizen deputies.
